Family Emails
From Mom: Hey so I wanted to write you and tell you about sacrament meeting last week. It was such a great meeting. I will always remember it. I had no idea it would be so good and the spirit would be so strong. It was fast and testimony meeting. It was the first church meeting after the prophet died. The people that got up and bore their testimony was our bishop, Bishop Barney bore his testimony, Brother goldsberry bore his testimony, who was the bishop of our ward before brother Barney. Brother Scott the patriarch also bore his testimony. Ann Dibb was there and she is president Monsons daughter that always came with him. Her testimony was amazing. One of the stories that brother Scott or goldsberry (I cant remember) said was that they were at a funeral of someone from the ward. They were both sitting up at the front and next to each other. The man who died was really well know for keeping everything in his house and around in perfect order and fixed everything perfectly. President Monson leaned over really quietly and said "I fix People".
A story that Barney said that he met with the prophet downtown and it was a wednesday and the prophet always has Crown burger wednesdays so they bought Barney crown burger to eat with the prophet. He told bishop barney that he wanted to have a temple recommend interview. When Barney asked him "do you beleive in god the eternal father?" The prophet banged his hand on the desk and got up out of his chair leaning forward towards Barney and said really firmly "YES I DO!" and when he asked " do you beileive in Jesus Christ" President monson did the same thing. and also said "you know I am a special witness of him" Then when he said do you sustain the prophet of god Thomas S. Monson? he said "well thats enough of this" and they went and ate their hamburgers. They talked about how he followed every prompting and put others first and was constantly showing up at the right time for someone in need. That he lived his life helping others.
Life is so good at home because of you. We are all being blessed because of your service. There is a peace that we all feel here. Of course its not perfect. FAR from perfect but on the whole, we recognize that we are being blessed.I LOVE getting your letters and hearing about everything in your mission. It is so awesome to hear about everything. I soak up every detail!
LOVE YOU, MOM
Dad: Do you like your companion?
Jaren: Dad! Hey yeah having a comp is hard for sure its like you kinda just have to deal with stuff that they do because you cant get away from them haha. But yeah elder sukyong is fantastic he is an amazing teacher. And he works dang hard we get home at about 9 to 9:15 almost everynight and we have to bike like 5 miles out to our area so we do that everyday. But yeah its kind of hard to understand stuff still but having someone like sukyong makes me forced to speak Thai so its good for me.
Jayce: have you seen any more big bugs?
Jaren: Jayce, Hahaha yeah i saw a huge cockroach in the sink today hahaha there are always dead cockroaches everywhere. I also almost ran over a turtle the other day on the road. I picked it up and this lady was looking for it so i gave it to her. It was big.
