Letters to/from Mom!
Weekly Letter to Mission President - 04 Apr 2018: Hey President! Very happy to be staying here in Samutpragan another one with Brown. He's very good at being good and I'm learning a lot from him. He works hard. We have a lot of really promising progressing investigators we recently had a family want to be Christian. We are currently teaching them and they are accepting the gospel extremely well. Excited for what that will bring. Elder English
From Mom: Hello. We are out of town for spring break. We went to Newport with the frys. The Stebbing’s are here too. We took Jameson to Disney land for the first time. Do you have regular p day even though it’s conference? Do they have you watch it? What was your favorite? I love your pictures you send. It’s nice when you attach a few to your email. So do you like sending out the email yourself? If you don’t I’m happy to send it. We didn’t get one last week. Probably because you were having so much fun on the beach on an island. How was it? Tell us about last p day.
Love you so much! Work hard, be obedient and have fun!
Mom
To mom, from jaren: we know a ll the big stuff about it but mostly were gonna just watch it as a district in english. yeah the emailing myself is good. sorry I didnt have time to send one last week... I have a ton of pics tho. Ference and me balled out. and what we did was we rented this huge van that everyone pitched in on. only like 200 bhat per person and so we got the whole district and we were totally bumpin in this car all the way to chonburi where we met up with MORE missionaries and got on this boat and went out to this random Island where we climbed to the top and there was stairs alll the way up. It was a lot of stairs mom. needless to say we were all drenched from the humidity and the million stairs we took. then we came down and hung out on the beach I was doing flips and we were just chillin. then we went and ate and went to a pier and then we took the boat back. way fun. YOU GUYS went to cali???? SAAAAAAHHHHH thats rad momma. How was jameson doing was he freaking out. Did he do all the rides?
From mom: Life is good here at the English home. We were up in Midway for Jakes Farewell. It was good. He was really honest and himself in his talk. that was nice to hear. He focused on the reason he is going is for Christs atonement and he wanted to share it with others. He felt he would be ungrateful if he didn't at least try to share it with others. Jenn is freaking out about Jake leaving. She keeps joking that she wants to leave the church because it sucks to send your kid away. Its true it does suck to think that you wont get to see one of your kids for two years and only have weekly contact with him. Even though we miss you, we wouldn 't want it any other way ever!. We are so happy that you are serving the lord. You are learning and growing so much more than if you stayed. And you wouldn't have met so so so so many nice and amazing and weird and interesting people that some of them you will be connected to for life.
Also, Natashas boy is going back out. Adrien is going back out to the same mission Japan. He will probably not have such a shock in the MTC this time. We had a nice week. I worked a ton. Jayce had a rugby game. The other team forfeited so they had jacye play on the other team to balance out the teams. it was West lake. We got our new car. I told you some of this in the google chat. Jameson keeps getting in trouble at school and we keep getting phone calls. We are used to it now. He exposes us you know. He has been exposing all of our weaknesses since he arrived in our family. So thats a good thing. How are you supposed to work on your weaknesses and make them strengths if you don't know about them or if they are never tested or exposed. So thank you Jameson for forcing me to look at my faults and see how much I don't like them so I can painfully work on them. If you can learn to love someone who is hard for you, you are being an example like christ. Thats what im aiming for. He actually is really easy for me at home. he is very helpful and we love eachother. Its just hard to know how to handle what he does at school and how to not get frusterated or angry.
So here are my questions for you:
Where is your companion from?
Who are some of your favorite people in your new Ward?
Are you teaching English? Who comes to your english class?
What are the best things about your new area?
What are the worst things about your new area?
Is the food good here? better or worse than the last places?
How many hours a day are you out working usually?
What is the best thing about your companions personality?
How often do you see Jake F?
Do you see any of your other missionaries from your MTC District?
What do you think about your new mission president that is coming? I heard he was a religion teacher at BYU idaho and is awesome.
How often do you get to talk to your mission president one on one? details?
Will you get to meet with the prophet as missionaries or will it be for missionaries and members?
Who from home has been pretty supportive of you?
Any friends or neighbors that email regularly?
Are we emailing enough? Sometimes the week goes by pretty fast....
I recently have had decided on a saying for myself to remember and it is:
Gratitude, Faith and Positivity in all things.
I need to try to remember that with my situation, others and any other aspect of my life.
K well I love you so much and am so proud of what you are doing. Have fun, be obedient and stay Jaren on spiritual steroids.
LOVE MOM
To mom, from Jaren: centerville utah
I love the bishop and I love all the members, there is a lot of relief society age women so theyre all moms
Yes were teaching english but we have more missionaries so its way fun and I teach with Elder Ference.
Best things is the fastness of everything. Its all fast foreward. I have been here for a month. what the heck. Its almost Exhilarating. and its closer to other missionaries so I see so many people.
I dont really know Its just adjusting. I think I have adjusted well enough?
food is not as much eastern food which is my favorite but still way good
usually we study in the morning and then we work the rest of the day until 9
My comp is humble and I wish I was more like that. He told me the other night that he gets more annoyed with himself for getting annoyed with someone else. Not saying thats the best but it really shows his personality.
I see ference multiple times a week
Yeah huge P-days are fun to see everyone from my district. Still havent seen Elder Mchworter or Elder Davis. I see Munro alot shes probably my favorite sister missionary.
Not sure havent interviewed with him yet. But sounds like a good guy. Hes who is meant to come here.
Talk every transfer. I actually had an interview with him yesterday cuz he came to our sacrament meeting. Its amazing. I go pretty hard in interviews. I love asking him for advice and hes extremely good at giving it. You kind of just have to open up with your leaders like that, In fact being completely honest and open about every thing especially with yourself has been something that I have learned on my mission. I dont try and be fake with people cuz that is really stupid and annoying. Cuz its not real communication its just you saying something hollow without feeling and then them saying something else hollow without feeling ya know.
I dont now yet I havent heard any details sorry!
Just sarah and then like adam and then not really anyone else haha someone from our ward send me a post card every month haha I forgot her name she probably spends a fortune
You guys dad you.
Dont worry about that. just Chatting is fun for me
Haha... the thing about Bangkok is your entire world just goes into fast forward. You are always inviting, you are always looking for that next investigator. And because you are out on the streets so much "keeping your fishing rod in the water" you meet lots of weird people, you see crazy stuff, and you get better at inviting in Thai. So this week went by faster than a bunny out of a bush. BUT IT WAS FUN! I literally couldn't write down all of the crazy stuff that is happening. Ill just go with some of the highlights.
So there has been days where we have had like three missed appointments and we would just invite for like 5 hours. And I helped a guy get unstuck from his bike when he got in an accident. So I like ran out in the street and took the motorcycle off this dude. We have so many Potential Investigators. Not a ton progressin but we have two daters! Daa and nat they are both awesome. But yeah you guys are great, thanks for everything you do. God loves you.
